Still looking to buy a home? October could be your month. October — and the winter months — offer homebuyers the best deals. They offer lower premiums than other months of the year, according to a new analysis by ATTOM.

Buyers who close in October will get the best deal compared to the spring buying season, per the analysis. The premium is still above market value. But homebuyers only see a 3.3% premium versus May’s premium around 10.5%.

The analysis also looked at the best days to buy nationally, which are:

  • November 28, with the lowest premium of 1.1%
  • January 9 with a 1.3% premium
  • December 5, with a 1.5% premium
  • December 26, with a 1.5% premium
  • December 19, with a 1.9% premium
  • December 12, with a 2.0% premium, and
  • December 24, with a 2.0% premium.

In May, the 23rd, 20th and 27th offer over a 15% premium, the analysis found.

The states showing the biggest discounts below full market value were:

  • New Jersey (-3.9% in February)
  • Maryland (-3.5% in January)
  • Michigan (-3.3% in October)
  • Illinois (-2.7% in October);
  • Connecticut (-2.4% in December).
